I forgot to mention this last week but one day at the end of the week, we received something in the mail from the Tift County Tax Commissioners Office saying that the property taxes haven’t been paid on our old house. They were due back in October. When we were at the closing table, our buyer could not understand why she had to pay the property taxes. The attorney explained that she was getting a credit from us for the time that we occupied the house and she would be responsible for the remainder. She then asked why couldn’t she just give us her portion and we go pay it. The attorney explained to her that that would not be in her best interest. It wasn’t wise to give us $900 plus and expect us to pay it….with the chance that we don’t….she would still owe that amount. I would have thought that she would go pay it that day, but apparently she did not and still has not paid it. She is not in escrow so it is her responsibility to do this. Friday, I called the Tift County Tax Commissioners Office and told them that the property taxes for that address should not be showing in our name because we sold it. She said to disregard the bill since we sold that house but to contact the attorney and let them know that they hadn’t received a PT on that property yet and they should have by now. So, I called them and let them know. I made a copy of the bill and sent it to the buyer…..letting her know that she needs to pay it.
So, here’s Monday and I thought I’d better check our mortgage to make sure that our property taxes have been paid on our new house. When I looked, it showed that they were paid. Thank goodness! 🙂
Another thing that I took care of today was paying my speeding ticket. BLAH! $145 later!
Brandon stopped by the store and got some Great Stuff so that he could spray it around our bathroom window and put the trim back on.
The kids spotted Dillon when they got home. I’m not sure how they missed seeing him this morning. He was up at the top of the Christmas tree that is right outside their doors.

This morning Deegan complained of bumps behind his right ear. I took a look and it looked like a slight rash behind his ear. I applied some cream to help with the itching. When I picked him up from school, it had spread to his other ear and his face.
I’m very shocked that I didn’t get a call from his school. Before Dawson’s ballet class, I tried to research what this could be and it looked like this was an after affect of his infection and high fever from last week. I was trying to determine whether it was worth the time and money to take him to the doctor but from what I read, it will go away on its own. I’m just going to keep a close watch on it.
My brother, Nathan, texted me today and told me that he and Miranda are expecting a……..GIRL! I can’t wait!
Dawson’s ballet class had their annual Christmas party today. They had some special dances and techniques to show us today. It was so adorable watching all of them. Dawson has really grown in the past year and is becoming less shy to dance for people.
I took three videos but I can’t figure out just yet how to insert those into the blog. 😦
When we got home, the kids found Dillon hiding behind a star on the wall that’s right outside of their bathroom.
Before coming to bed, Brandon heard some coyotes outside our house. Scary!

Early this morning when Brandon was getting ready, I heard him come into our bedroom and get something and I asked what was wrong. He said he heard coyotes right outside our bathroom window and was going to check on the chickens. When he came back in, he said that he heard them run off and then he saw some brush move. The chickens were just fine.
I went to Hobby Lobby today on my lunch and got some Christmas items that were 50% off.
On the way back to work, I decided to do a drive-by by our old house. Someone had told me that the buyer had put some garland on the light post like a Christmas Tree and had some deer by it.
I know this isn’t the best picture, but I was stopped in the road and rolled my window down and I was trying to hurry before I got caught. LOL Isn’t this hideous?? It makes me cringe. So, it looks like they took off the globes on the light post and removed the bulbs….more than likely because they didn’t want to use electricity constantly. (There was a breaker for that.) When I called Brandon to tell him about the decorations, it hit me. The two deer that are in the picture are the ones we left in the attic. One was half lit and the other didn’t work at all. After zooming in, I realized that they just draped a string of lights over them.
When I got home, I decorated a little.
I added this Christmas sweater runner to the farmhouse table.
I added a Santa and the plate and cup for him.
Then, I added a candle and a little Santa to my small butcher blocks.
I added my Santa treats holder to the kitchen counter…..it needs some treats.
I added some Christmas tree candles and a figurine to the table by the fridge.
I added a Santa to the Merita bread crate on the wall above the table.
Then, I decided to add ornaments to the glass jars with candles in them on the farmhouse table. I added some figures as well.
I finally decorated the dining room table.
The kids searched and searched for Dillon tonight. It was hard to find him because he seemed to blend in real well.

It rained so bad this morning. There were three times that I could not see and was driving blind. It was super scary.
Tonight, we took the kids to the Georgia Agrirama for their annual North Pole Express train ride and to visit Santa.
When we got on the train, we noticed that their Uncle B was the one driving the train.
Then, we watched a little bit of the Polar Express while drinking hot apple cider and eating cookies.
Tonight, the GMA store had all their Christmas items half off. So, of course, I got a few goodies to take home.
The kids found Dillon shortly after we got home. He was hiding in the snow in the Christmas Village display.

For lunch today, my boss took all of his department out to eat at Cracker Barrel. I absolutely love Cracker Barrel and want to buy everything in it. They had their Christmas items 50% as well, so I did some shopping.
Dillon was hiding in one of the wreaths tonight.

This morning, I woke up and started on laundry then cleaned the house and then got to decorating. Today is the day I plan on finishing Christmas decorations and putting up all the boxes.
The kids found Dillon right away. He was hiding in a stocking that is hung on the Master Bedroom door.
I received this throw as a gift from my co-worker, Michelle. The Merry and Bright pillow is what I got at the GMA store on Thursday.
I added some silver stems to the garland on the dining room table.
Here’s one of the ornaments I got at Cracker Barrel.
I went to Goodwill on Thursday and found a London-style Telephone booth curio cabinet for $10. I had to get it.
View from stairs.
While I was decorating, Brandon was changing out the light switches to new white ones in the front hall, stairs, and living room. It looks so much better.
I had Brandon hang a wreath on the downstairs bathroom mirror.
I added some Christmas towels.
We were able to finish decorating and I got most of all the presents wrapped and under the tree. We also got all of the empty boxes up in the attic.
It was pretty late when we got through doing all of that stuff. So, I suggested popping some popcorn and watching home movies with the kids. Then, Brandon said he had an idea. He wanted to watch Star Wars. I was fine with that because I knew Deegan would enjoy that. So, while I got the popcorn ready, Brandon was in there getting out his Star Wars VHS tapes. When I got into the living room, he was rewinding it, then stopped and played it and the resolution was horrible. I knew that if he wanted me to watch this with him that I might as well give him one of his Christmas presents. So, I grab a bag from under the tree and tell him to open it. He looked confused. I said, “Open it!” So, when he reached in the bag and pulled it out. He had the biggest smile on his face. I had gotten him the complete set on DVD. He told me that he didn’t have any idea that I had gotten that for him and he wasn’t trying to get his present early. I told him that it was fine, it didn’t matter to me.
We watched Episode 4. Dawson fell asleep not much into the movie. Then, we put in Episode 5 and Brandon and I started getting tired so we decided to stop it and went to bed. Deegan was over there like, “I want to stay up all night and watch all of them!” (I think he likes Star Wars!) LOL

Brandon finally hung some iron door knockers that I’ve had for a while.
After that, Brandon went outside and went to bush hogging. His goal was to get the back property line cleared so that he could string a line from survey stick to survey stick and then eventually get string going down the left property line so that we can start on our fence.
SOMEONE keeps using our driveway to check their mail and it’s really irritating me. He knows that our driveway is not an easement. I just don’t understand why he’s being disrespectful. I don’t even understand why he has his mail still going to that address. He doesn’t even live there. I guess he’ll get the point when our gate and fence goes up. Brandon called the guy that owns the farm behind us, beside us, and across from us about his easement because it still hasn’t been built. He told us that he has someone lined up the first week of January to come put it in. He is so very nice to Brandon and offers his help if he needs it and told him that if he didn’t like what the guy making the easement was doing to stop him and let him know.
Brandon has pretty much cleared the woods where he wants to put the chickens.
He’s also cleared out where he wants to build the barn.
AND, he’s cleared out where I want to build a pool house.
I finished wrapping up the rest of the Christmas presents. The tree looks awesome with all the presents.
Tonight, the temperatures dropped and it was a little chilly in the house. So, Brandon started a fire in the fireplace. This is the first time we used it.
The kids had the hardest time today trying to find Dillon. But, I never let them go to bed without finding him. He was hiding in my new telephone booth cabinet.

Today, on my lunch, I went to Hobby Lobby. They were having their Christmas items 66% off. I needed some more garland and Christmas lights.
I ended up getting some berry garland that I put on the farmhouse table.
This is what our bay window looks like. My mom’s mom, Nanny, made the three wise men that are sitting in the window.
I added some decor to the baskets on the kitchen wall.
I added a string of Christmas lights to the top of the fridge around the chicken crate.
I added two pinecone wreaths that I had gotten today at Hobby Lobby to the baskets on the downstairs bathroom wall.
The kids were on the hunt again for Dillon. Dawson has been the one finding him lately. I think Deegan is growing tired of the Elf. He was hiding in the towel basket in the bathroom.
This will be it until maybe after the New Year….not really sure. I want to apologize to family and friends…..I didn’t get Christmas cards in the mail until this past Monday. Hopefully you will receive them before Christmas. I want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Enjoy time with your family!
As for me and mine, we will be busy during the next week….taking down decorations at that lady’s house that we decorated for, then taking down our decorations…….then I plan on painting, painting, painting……possibly we will get started on the fence and gate.
Take care and stay safe!
